Germany Football Team Captain Philipp Lahm Retires From International Football after Germany Win 2014 FIFA World Cup




Germany captain Philipp Lahm has retired from international football


Philipp Lahm, meanwhile, will continue to play for Bayern at least until his contract runs out in 2018.

Philipp Lahm(DOB Nov 11,1983) who led his team to the 2014 FIFA World Cup success has called time on his Germany career after 113 caps and scoring 5 Goals, the German Football Federation announced.

Philipp Lahm has been captain since 2010, when he benefited from an injury to Michael Ballack to lead the team in the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.Philipp Lahm led Germany to the semi-finals of the 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012 

Philipp Lahm made his Germany debut in 2004  against Croatia and was named MOM

Born in Munich on 11 November 1983.
Lahm had to battle back from serious injury several times. On his return from Stuttgart to Bayern, he had a torn cruciate ligament which kept him out for six months.
Lahm played 113 games, scoring five times for Germany in a 10-year international career.
Made club captain in 2011 and led the team to their 2013 Champions League, German title and German Cup treble.
Joined Bayern Munich at 11 and made his debut for the senior side in 2002, but the club had so many defenders that he was loaned out to Stuttgart from 2003 to 2005.
Was converted from right-back to defensive midfielder at the start of 2013-14 by new Bayern boss Pep Guardiola and played in both positions during the 2014 World Cup.


Germany will survive without Philipp Lahm but he will leave a gap. As a leader and a footballer,Philipp Lahm was without doubt one of Germany’s finest captains.
