BRITISH PLAYER BECOMES FIRST TO BE SPONSORED FOR FIST-PUMPING AT WIMBLEDON
A British tennis player has become the first athlete in the world to sign a unique sponsorship deal - for fist-pumping.
Tara
Moore, 21, from Doncaster, starts her Wimbledon campaign tomorrow and
will raise three pounds for charity every time she clenches her fist in
celebration.
The deal marks the first time in sporting history that a player has been sponsored for celebrating.
Mobile network Three will donate £3
to the Rally For Bally, a charity set up in memory of former British
number one, Elena Baltacha, who died of liver cancer, every time the
British number five fist-pumps during the famous tournament. It will also donate every time a player fist-pumps during the men's and women's singles finals.
The
former British number one Tim Henman memorably fist-pumped on centre
court when he reached four Wimbledon semi-finals, though he never won
the title.
Tara, who was born in Hong Kong, takes on former world number two and Russian star Vera Zvonareva on Tuesday June 24,2014
