FC Barcelona finally won the championship on Saturday, May 11,2013 without even playing, when its two biggest rivals Real Madrid and Espanyol played to a 1-1 tie.The result put Barcelona mathematically out of reach for Madrid and gave FC Barcelona it's 22nd Title.
FC Barcelona were top from the opening day of the campaign, and are only the second side to have led a 20-team league from beginning to end (Real Madrid completed the same feat in 1987-88)
FC Barcelona put a statement on their website calling their success the "The Tito and 'Abi' league title, referring to FCB's Defender Eric Abidal(France) who has had a liver transplant, and TitoVilanova who needed treatment for throat cancer during the campaign.
