Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) inaugurated its third two-wheeler production plant at Narasapura industrial area, Kolar district, Karnataka on Tuesday May 28,2013
The plant, which has been set up with an investment of Rs. 1,350 crores, will start operations from June 2013 and will have the production capacity of 12 lakh units in phase I.
The plant will employ approximately 4,500 people, mostly local youth and the plant is HMSI's most environment-friendly plant with reportedly zero liquid discharge
HMSI hopes to increase capacity by another six lakhs under phase II, taking the annual capacity to 18 lakhs, by the end of the current financial year 2013-14
With the three plants, the company will be able to significantly increase its cumulative annual production by 64 % in just one fiscal.

HMSI Factory Construction Completed in Jan 2001 at Manesar,Gurgaon,Haryana .
The initial production capacity was 100,000 scooters per year, which is currently 600,000 scooters. The motorcycle production capacity is 1,000,000 per annum.
In June 2011Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (Pvt.) Ltd. (HMSI)inaugurated its second two-wheeler plant in Tapukara Industrial Area,Rajasthan. Initial capacity of the plant, built at a cost of Rs.460 crore, will be 6-lakh units annually, while its second phase will be completed by March next year with an additional investment of Rs.400 crore, which would take the plant's total installed capacity to 12-lakh units
HMSI has invested more than Rs. 1000 crore at the 2nd plant and doubled the annual production capacity of this plant to 1.2 million units in Feb 2012
