The 2013 French Open is the 112th edition of the French Open that is being played on outdoor clay courts at the Stade Roland Garros

The event was not held from 1915 to 1919 because of World War I and was held unofficially under German occupation from 1941 to 1944 during World War II

The tournament is run by the International Tennis Federation(ITF)

The tournament is played during two weeks in late May and early June, and has been chronologically the second of the 4Grand Slam Tournaments of the year since 1987.

Jacques Brugnon(May 11, 1895 – March 20, 1978)was primarily a doubles specialist who won 10 Grand Slam Doubles Titles in the French, American, Australian and British championships.He was also a fine singles player but never won a major title

Suzanne Rachel Flore Lenglen(May 24,1899 -July 4,1938)a French Tennis Player who won 31
Championship titles between 1914 and 1926 and was the first female tennis celebrity and one of the first international female sport stars, named La Divine (the divine one) by the French press

From 1920 through 1926, she won the French Championships Singles title six times and the Doubles title five times, plus three World Hard Court Championships from 1921 to 1923
In 1997 the second court at the Roland Garros Stadium, site of the French Open was renamed Court Suzanne Lenglen  in her honour. In addition, the trophy awarded to the winner of the Women's Singles competition at the French Open is the Coupe Suzanne Lenglen.
