  • Shikhar Dhawan by scoring 100 in 85 Balls becomes the fastest debutant century scorer surpassing the 93 ball century scored by Dwayne Smith(West Indies) against South Africa in 2004.

  • Shikhar Dhawan is now the 13th Indian batsman to mark his debut with a century

  • Shikhar Dhawan is the 1st Indian to score 150*+ Runs on a Debut Test Match(150 off 131 balls with 4x29 and 6x1)

  • By scoring 185 on Day 3, Shikhar Dhawan become India's most successful batsman on Test debut, having surpassed Gundappa Vishwanath's 137 scored against Australia at Kanpur in 1969

  • By scoring 185* on Day 3,  Shikhar Dhawan has surpassed the Indian record of most runs in debut match held by Lala Amarnath who made 156 (38 & 118 in 2 innings) against England (1933) in Mumbai.

  • At close of play on Saturday Day 3, Shikhar Dhawan remain unbeaten at 185*off 168 balls having dominated India's first double-century stand against Australia and their seventh best partnership of all time. 
  • The 283 Runs 1st wicket partnership netween Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay surpassed the earlier highest stand between Sunil Gavaskar and Chetan Chauhan of 192 Runs in Bombay in 1979 against Austalia

 Rohit Sharma became the first Indian batsman to record a hundred on Test debut against the West Indies.



Rohit Sharma, with his 177 off 301 balls, has established a record for the highest individual innings by a number six batsman on Test debut, outstripping Australia's Doug Walters' 155 off 315 balls vs England at Brisbane in December 1965

Rohit Sharma's177 Runs is the second highest by an Indian batsman on Test debut, next only to the 187 by Shikhar Dhawan vs Australia at Mohali in March 2013

Rohit Sharma is the fifth Indian player to be adjudged the Man of the Match on Test debut - the other four being Pravin Amre, R.P.Singh, Ravichandran Ashwin and Shikhar Dhawan

Rohit Sharma's 177 on debut is the seventh highest score by a batsman on Test debut and second highest by an Indian. Below is the list:
