Chris Huhne and his wife sentenced to 8 months imprisonent


Christopher Murray Paul-Huhne(DOB July 2,1954)the former British Cabinet Minister -Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change and Liberal Democrat Member of Parliament from Eastleigh constitunecy in hampshire during May 6, 2005 to 5 Feb 5,2013

Chris Huhne was convicted in 2003 under the Road Traffic Act 1988 of using a Mobile Phone while driving  his car in London. Following the conviction, he was banned from driving for three months

In February 2012 he became the first British Cabinet minister in history to be forced from office by a criminal prosecution when he was charged with perverting the course of justice over a 2003 speeding case.however,he denied the charge until the trial began on 4 February 2013, when he changed his plea to guilty and announced he would stand down as an MP and leave the Privy Council

On March 11,2013, Chris Huhne and his wife Vicky Pryce each jailed for eight months for perverting course of justice.
Sentencing them at Southwark crown court on Monday afternoon, the judge, Mr Justice Sweeney, said: "To the extent that anything good has come out of this whole process, it is that now, finally, you have both been brought to justice for your joint offence. Any element of tragedy is entirely your own fault."

Neither gave any visible reaction to the sentences, or looked at each other.

Timelineof the case

March 12, 2003: Huhne’s BMW is clocked speeding in Essex.
March 25: Police send him a Notice of Intended Prosecution form.
April 23: Form is returned from Huhne, indicating his wife was the driver.
October 31: He receives a ban after being caught using his mobile while driving.
May, 2005: Huhne wins Eastleigh.
May, 2010: He’s made Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change.
June: His affair with his PR adviser Carina Trimingham is exposed, ending his 26-year marriage to Vicky Pryce.
March, 2011: Pryce tells the Sunday Times about the points-swapping.
April: Pryce records four calls to Huhne in an unsuccessful attempt to get him to admit to passing his points to her.
May 8: The allegations are reported in the newspapers. He denies the claims.
May 16: Essex Police say the claims will be reviewed. Huhne says speeding allegations against him are “incorrect”.
May 24: Huhne and Pryce are questioned by police.
July 7, 2011: Huhne tells the BBC “there is no truth in those allegations”.
February 3, 2012: Huhne and Pryce charged with perverting the course of justice. Huhne stands down from Government, but vows to fight the accusation.
February, 2013: On the first day of their trial, Huhne changes his plea to guilty.
March 7,2013: Pryce is found guilty of perverting the course of justice.
