Hyundai Venue has won the prestigious 2020 Indian Car Of The Year(ICOTY) Award
Launched in India in May 2019, the compact SUV has taken the market by storm and garnered well over 90,000 bookings till November 2019
A 16-member ICOTY jury consisting of Yogendra Pratap Singh (Chairman - ICOTY) & Rahul Ghosh (Auto Today), Dhruv Behl & Ishan Raghava (AutoX), Aspi Bhathena & Sarmad Kadiri (CAR India), Sirish Chandran & Aniruddha Rangnekar (EVO India), Pablo Chaterji & Kartik Ware (Motoring World), Bertrand D'Souza & Rohit Paradkar (Overdrive), Muralidhar Swaminathan (The Hindu Business Line), Vikrant Singh (CarWale), Kushan Mitra (The Pioneer) and Girish Karkera (GQ India), adjudged the Venue as this year's winner.
The jury had shortlisted as many as 10 cars for the esteemed award. These included Hyundai Venue, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Maruti Suzuki S-Presso, Maruti Suzuki WagonR, Renault Triber, Kia Seltos, MG Hector, Tata Harrier, Nissan Kicks and Honda Civic
Hyundai Venue is priced between Rs 6.50 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and Rs 11.10 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It rivals the likes of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Ford EcoSport and Tata Nexon in the compact SUV segment
There are 3 Engine Options available with the Venue -- 1.0-litre Kappa T-GDI petrol (120 PS and 172 Nm), 1.2-litre Kappa petrol (83 PS and 115 Nm) and 1.4-litre diesel (90 PS and 220 Nm). The 1.0-litre Kappa T-GDI petrol is offered with 6-speed manual gearbox or 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission, while the 1.2-litre Kappa petrol and 1.4-litre diesel come with 5-speed manual and 6-speed manual gearboxes, respectively
The Venue is available in four variants -- E, S, SX and SX(O). It comes with features like dark chrome front grille, cube-shaped projector headlamps with LED DRLs, projector fog lamps and LED tail lamps. Providing the compact SUV a sporty look are features like 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, roof rails, shark fin antenna and silver skid plates
The safety features like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX, seatbelt reminder, rear parking sensors, speed sensing auto door lock and crash sensing auto door unlock are standard in the Venue
The compact Venue gets a structure made out of advanced high strength steel.
