In the newly elected Karnataka assembly, 77 (35%) of 221 MLAs have a criminal records, according to an analysis by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR)
Of these, 54 have serious criminal cases which refers to crimes like attempt to murder, kidnapping, etc.
A party-wise break-up reveals, 42 (41%) of the 103 MLAs from the BJP, 23 (30%) of 78 Congress MLAs and 11 (30%) of 37 Janata Dal-Secular MLAs declared criminal cases against them in their affidavits
