2016 West Bengal Assembly Election - 81.66 % Is Final Voter Turnout In Phase 5 on Saturday April 30,2016



Over 81 %  electorate had exercised their franchise in thepolling for the fifth and penultimate phase of West Bengal Assembly election held on Saturday April 30,2016

The Election Commission today announced the final poll percentage as 81.66 %for 53 seats.

Hooghly district recorded 82.52 %, Kolkata South 65.10 % and South 24 Parganas 83.14 %

Altogether 349 candidates, including 43 women, were in the fray for the fifth phase where about 1.2 crore voters were eligible to exercise their franchise.

In Phase 05 WB Assembly Elections,53 constituencies in south Kolkata, Hooghly and South 24-Parganas went to polls on Saturday April 30,2016




This phase — 53 constituencies in South Kolkata, Hooghly and South 24-Parganas will vote on Saturday — will see the chief minister and four scam-tainted Trinamool Congress legislators amid a test for the Left-Congress combine to prove its hold on Kolkata.

This phase is in TMC's stronghold, in the districts of South 24 Paraganas, Kolkata and Hooghly. The party won 46 out of these 53 seats in the 2011 WB Assembly Elections

Note

So far all the phases have seen over 80 % voter turnouts.

The Phase 4 had recorded 81.25 % voter turnout while Phase 03 and Phase 02  recorded 82.28 % and 83.05 % respectively.

In the two parts of Phase 01 of polling held on April 4 and April 11, the final turnout was 84.22 % and 83.73 % respectively.

The last and the sixth phase of polling will be held on May 05,2016
