Rajinikanth on Sunday Feb 17,2019 announced that he would not be contesting in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. His "Rajini Makkal Mandram" will not offer support to any political party.
“The Tamil Nadu Assembly elections are our focus,” he said in a statement.
“One of Tamil Nadu's main issues is water. In the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, I would urge people to introspect and vote for whichever party they think can form a stable government at the centre as well as solve Tamil Nadu's water crisis,” he said.
He emphasised that there should be no use of the Rajini Makkal Mandram's flags or logos during campaigns for the upcoming elections by anyone.
On Sunday morning, the actor met with 32 district representatives from across the State at his Poes Garden residence.
