Virat Kohli Joins Elite List With Durban Ton, He Now Has a Century in Every Test-playing Nation He Has Played In

 

 Virat Kohli has added a fresh feather into his already illustrious cap by slamming his 33rd ODI ton against South Africa during the first match of the six-match series at Kingsmead in Durban on Thursday Feb 01,2018


Riding on Kohli's maiden ODI ton in the 'Rainbow Nation', the 'Men in Blue' ended South Africa's 17-match winning streak at home and take a 1-0 lead in the series. However, after this stunning victory, Kohli also reached new milestones with this blazing ton.

Kohli now holds the unique distinction of having scored centuries in every Test-playing nation that he has played in so far. In total, Kohli has now scored a total of 33 centuries in nine Test-playing nations, with only Pakistan being left out of the list as he hasn't travelled to the country yet.

India: 14 tons in 76 innings
Bangladesh: 5 tons in 15 innings
Australia: 4 tons in 23 innings
Sri Lanka: 4 tons in 23 innings
West Indies: 2 tons in 15 innings

New Zealand: 1 ton in 7 innings
Zimbabwe: 1 ton in 7 innings
South Africa: 1 ton in 10 innings

Also, Kohli joins legendary cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar and Sanath Jayasuriya in the illustrious list of batsmen who have scored centuries in nine Test-playing nations. Sachin missed out on a century in West Indies while Zimbabwe stopped Jayasuriya from crossing the 100-run mark in their backyard and therefore these two gentlemen couldn't complete their respective sets of centuries in every Test-playing nation then.

But as far Kohli is concerned, he has etched his name on to the honour boards of stadiums across the world, wherever has stepped foot in, and now South Africa has become the latest country to bow down to the brilliance of the swashbuckling Indian batsman.
