Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted 2018’s first edition of his Mann Ki Baat radio address, lauding the country’s women achievers and the unsung heroes who won the prestigious Padma awards this year.
Narendra Modi began his address with a tribute to the late NASA astronaut Kalpana Chawla and shared the inspiring stories of women who were honoured with the First Ladies Achievement Award by the Women and Child Development Ministry recently.
In his last address, PM Modi talked about his idea of a New India, a country “free from poison of casteism, communalism, terrorism and corruption; free from dirt and poverty”. He also talked about his government empowering Muslim women by changing the rule that mandates a male guardian for women travelling alone on Haj.
