Datsun India Wednesday July 26,2017 launched the new redi-GO 1.0 L at a starting price of Rs 3.57 lakh, ex-showroom.
The redi-GO 1.0 L will take on the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10, Hyundai Eon and the Renault Kwid 1 litre.
The model, which was earlier present with an 800 cc engine has now been fitted with a 1-litre i-SAT engine.
This is the same unit that powers the Kwid but has been tuned to the redi-GO's requirements.
The car is largely similar to the 800 cc variant in terms of styling and equipment although some small changes lend the new version with some freshness.
On the exterior, things remain unchanged except the badge on the tail gate that signifies the larger engine.
In addition, the DRLs in the lower part of the bumper are a standard offering across the variants unlike the 800 cc variants, which feature DRLs only in top variants.
Inside the cabin, the most noticeable change is the all-black interior, which looks better and also makes the plastic feel better than it actually is.
The horn pad on the steering wheel now comes with a silver finish and remote keyless entry is now offered as standard fitment across the range.
The 1.0-litre i-SAT engine develops about 65 hp and 91 Nm of torque, which is at par with the competition.
The engine is paired to a five-speed manual gearbox, which is the same unit used in the 800 cc version.
The company has also worked upon lowering the NVH (Noise, Vibration & Harshness) levels by bolstering the soundproofing.
ARAI certified fuel -efficiency stands at 22.5 kmpl, which is also at par with the competition.
Beyond this, there aren't any mechanical changes except the retuning of the suspension to accommodate the increased weight of the engine.
The additional weight itself has benefited the car and you can read more about that in our review by clicking the link below.
