Sprinter Kariman Abuljadayel became the first Saudi woman to compete in the 100m, finishing seventh


Afghanistan's Kamia Yousufi also competed in a hijab and full body suit, finishing in last place in her heat.

Sarah Attar became the first Saudi female track athlete in 2012 in London when she competed in the 800m

The then-19-year-old wore a hijab, sleeved top and leggings after the country demanded female athletes be dressed to 'preserve their dignity'
