2016 Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati Aug 15-21,2016 - Czech Republic's Karolina Pliskova beats Germany's Angelique Kerber in the Women's Singles Final Sunday Aug 21,2016



2016 Rio Olympic Games Silver Medalist Germany's Angelique Kerber lost to Czech Republic's Karolina Pliskova 6-3, 6-1 in the women's final of the joint WTA-ATP tournament.


The defeat ended Angelique Kerber's chances of replacing Serena Williams as the No. 1 ranked player in the world.

It was Angelique Kerber's second defeat in a final in just over a week after losing to Monica Puig in the gold medal 2016 Rio Olympic Games match.
