As five states across large parts of northern India reel under the
impact of floods, over 26,000 people have been evacuated to safety by at
least 56 NDRF teams rushed to the flood-hit areas to assist the state
administrations in rescue and relief operations

District administrations on Monday shut schools in Varanasi and
Allahabad for the next two days due to the floods, which have affected
over 25 districts of the state of Uttar Pradesh
As many as 43 people have died in rain-related incidents in eastern UP, Bundelkhand and Terai regions in the last few days, officials said, adding that nearly eight lakh people have been affected.
The NDRF and state’s Provincial Armed Constabulary have been pressed into service for rescue and relief operations.
Rajasthan Floods
Rains triggered by the South West monsoon have created flood-like situation in at least four districts of Rajasthan where 6 persons have been killed and over 70 airlifted, officials said on Sunday. The Met department has issued a warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall for isolated places in Eastern parts and heavy rainfall for isolated areas in Western parts of the state in the next 24 hours
Madhya Pradesh Floods
The state has registered at least 17 deaths due to incessant rains resulting floods. In Satna, over 4,500 people were rescued even as the Tamas, Simrawal and Chhoti Tamas rivers in the district were flowing close to the danger mark. Torrential rains have lashed western parts even as relief works have gained momentum in Bundelkhand and Vindhya regions. Normal life has been affected in Guna, Rajgarh, Shivpuri, Mandsour, Ujjain and other parts of western Madhya Pradesh
Bihar Floods
The rise of water above the danger mark of Ganga and five other rivers in many parts of Bihar have triggered a flood-like situation in the districts of Patna, Vaishali, Buxar, Bhojpur, Saran, Begusarai, Samastipur, Lakhisarai, Khagaria, Munger, Bhagalpur and Katihar, Disaster Management Department reportedly said in a statement. Altogether 1,39,330 persons have been evacuated to safer places so far, the statement said, adding around 1.05 lakh people have taken shelter in 162 relief camps. All camps have the facilities of medical teams apart from halogen tablets to clean drinking water.
Eight districts have reported an estimated loss of crop of over Rs 1,216 lakh. In over 10 districts, around 30,000 hectares of sown crops have been affected.
