Injury-ravaged Rising Pune Supergiants on Sunday May 01,2016 suffered another
blow after their Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh was ruled out of
the IPL due to a side strain.
Mitchell Marsh joined Kevin Pietersen and Faf du Plessis in the list of injured RPL players, who have been forced out of the IPL.
Mitchell Marsh had played only three matches for Supergiants' so far, taking four wickets at an economy of 5.
The struggling team had brought in Australian Usman Khawaja after Kevin Pietersen and Faf du Plessis were ruled out. With Mitchell Marsh's injury, RPS now have two empty slots in the line-up.
"Mitchell experienced some pain over his left abdominal area whilst batting at a training session with his team Pune in the IPL a few days ago," Cricket Australia Sports Science and Sports Medicine Manager Alex Kountouris said in a statement.
"He missed his team's next game and the pain has not resolved. He had scans in India that suggest he has a side strain injury and will now return home for further assessment and treatment ahead of the Qantas Tour of the West Indies
