Mahindra & Mahindra announces plan to build cheap and cheerful electric car in Britain

Mahindra & Mahindra,India’s second largest car maker has held talks with Prime Minister David Cameron to produce vehicles in the UK as it launched its first electric car on these shores.

Mahindra unveiled two versions of its e2o which will be sold online from next month, costing £12,995 for the basic City model and £15,995 for its top of the range TechX.

Chairman Anand Mahindra said: ‘We will certainly look to build the vehicle in the UK. When David Cameron came to India I told him if we get a good response from this launch we will start looking at sites.’
