Tobago batsman Iraq Thomas has stormed into the record books by smashing a whirlwind 21-ball century in the Tobago Cricket Association’s T20 tournament at Louis D'or.
Iraq Thomas, who was representing Scraborough/Mason Hall, remained unbeaten on 131 off just 31 balls to help his side chase down Speyside's target of 152 in just eight overs in a match played on Sunday April 24,2016
The 23-year-old slammed 15 sixes and five boundaries during his blistering knock. During his innings he cleared the park thrice and the umpires were forced to bring new balls.
The same batsman first displayed some destructive hitting by scoring 97 off just 53 deliveries against Charlotteville and then went on to play the record knock in the next game
Speaking after the match, a delighted Iraq Thomas said, “I was just very happy to reach my first T20 century. I have played cricket for a while and to get this century in the shortest format left me very happy. I played for Queen’s Park in Trinidad, so coming into this tournament I had some good experience having played at that level in Trinidad.”
Note
West Indies’ destructive batsman Chris Gayle holds the record for the hitting the fastest T20 ton. Chris Gayle achieved the feat of just 30 balls against Pune Warriors in the Indian Premier League.
In ODI's, South Africa's AB de Villiers owns the record for the fastest ODI ton – which he scored of a mere 31 balls
