Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Waives $42 Million Fine on WICB Ahead of West Indies Tour Thursday April 21,2016

West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) must have heaved a sigh of relief after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Shashank Manohar on Thursday April 21,2016 announced that the $41.97 million fine slapped on WICB for abandoning their 2014 tour of India midway has been waived off.

The Dwayne Bravo-led West Indies had flown back to the West Indies over a pay dispute with WICB, following which the former BCCI administration decided to impose the hefty fine in lieu of the loss of revenue due to unfinished tour.

But after the WICB promised that their team will travel to India in 2017 to finish the remaining matches, the Manohar-led BCCI decided to let West Indies off.

The West Indies team had left after the fourth ODI on a tour that was scheduled to have five ODIs, a T20I and three Tests

The decision, which was taken late last year during the meeting between the two boards, has now cleared the way for India's coming tour of the Caribbean where they will play four Tests.

"That is now sorted out because they are going to come back and play here next year," BCCI president Shashank Manohar told

The schedule for the pending tour, according to Manohar, will be in place by the end of May 2016

"We stand by whatever BCCI president Shashank Manohar says," WICB president Dave Cameron told
