More than 50,000 fishermen of Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Thanjavur and
Pudukkottai districts with thousands of mechanised and country-made
boats will remain on shore for the next 45 days from Friday April 15,2016, following
the 45-day fishing ban in order to allow fish breeding.
Fisheries department sources told that this ban has been in force for the last 15 years.
This year, it will be in force till May 29,2016.
During the ban period, fishermen will repair their boats and other accessories like fishnets, etc
