2016 West Bengal Assembly Elections - 80% turnout in WB 1B phase Monday April 11,2016

31 seats in Paschim Medinipur, Bankura and Burdwan districts go to the polls in this phase.

About 70 lakh voters will choose among 163 candidates in phase 1-B of the West Bengal Assembly elections on Monday April 11,2016

Amid Sporadic incidents of clash and scorching heat, 79.56 %votes were cast on Monday April 11,2016 in Phase 1B of polling in 31 Assembly constituencies spread over three districts in West Bengal.

Chief Electoral Officer of West Bengal, Sunil Gupta, said while the voter turnout in West Medinipur district was 84.71 %t, it was 78.87 % in Bankura and 75.12 per cent in Burdwan.

Long queues were seen in front of polling booths since early morning as people turned out in large numbers to beat the scorching heat. Bankura recorded the highest day temperature of 45.1°C, which was eight degrees above average, while Asansol and Burdwan recorded 43°C and 42.5°C respectively
