Darren Lehmann, head coach of the Australian cricket team, has been diagnosed with Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), John Orchard, the team doctor announced at the post-match press briefing after the fifth One-Day International against India in Sydney on Saturday (January 23).
"Lehmann was admitted to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney for observation overnight during the India innings in Saturdays match and will receive treatment for the condition. Lehmanns wife Andrea was notified of the situation and the Australia players were told following the completion of Saturdays match," a Cricket Australia media release stated.
In Lehmann's absence, Michael Di Venuto, Australian team's batting coach, will take over as interim coach.
