India and Britain have shown political will to push
their bilateral relations, and it is now for the business communities of
the two sides to take it forward, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in
London on Friday Nov 13,2015
Addressing the UK-India CEO forum,
Mr. Modi was particularly keen on overseas investments flowing into the
railways and defence sector.
“India and the United
Kingdom are economically made for each other. This relationship has to
be driven by private sector CEOs,” Mr. Modi said.
British Prime Minister David Cameron also articulated a similar position.
“We
both have the political will to take our economic relationship
forward,” Mr. Cameron said during his intervention at the forum meet.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also said India was ceaselessly working to integrate its economy
with the world’s. “We are confidently, consistently and ceaselessly
working to integrate our economy with the world.”
On Thursday Nov 12,2015, deals worth £9.3 billion ($14.2 billion) were signed between the two countries
