Building brand Amma in Tamil Nadu



 '' Amma Baby Care Kit''

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalitha launched the '' Amma Baby Care Kit'' the latest in the ‘Amma’ brand of social welfare schemes in the state Secretariat where five mothers were given the kit to earmark the launch.

The kit contains 16 items worth Rs.1000, which are helpful in maintaining health and hygiene in infants and young mothers.


The kit includes a towel, a mosquito net, an infant mattress, an infant dress, napkin, oil bottle (100ml), baby shampoo (60 ml), a soap with a box, a nail-cutter, Kilu Kiluppai (rattle toy), a doll, and a hand sanitiser (250ml).  Apart from these, the kit box also contains a local stimulant, Sowbagyasunti Leghyam which will be helpful in restoring health and improving lactation in women.

The scheme which was announced by the Chief Minister in the Assembly in August 2014, keeping the health and sanitation problems in mind will cost the exchequer Rs 67 crore annually cater to the needs of 6.7 lakh women every year who deliver babies in government hospital.

 '' Amma cement ''

After the launch of subsidised food, water, salt and pharma products, Tamil Nadu government has now rolled out the Amma cement




Under the scheme, state government will procure cement from private manufacturers and sell it to consumers at a discounted Rs 190 per bag (50 kg), as against the market price of Rs 300-350 a sack
 
The new scheme is aimed to benefit the lower and middle classes, wherein the state will procure 200,000 tonnes of cement from private manufacturers every month and sell them through all urban and rural local bodies at Rs 190 per bag, added the statement

Beneficiaries are eligible for a minimum of 50 bags for 100 sft building space and a maximum of 750 bags for 1,500 sft. Cement can be bought by submitting state government the approved building plan, she said.

Tamil Nadu Cement Corporation will be the nodal agency while the scheme will be implemented by Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation and Rural Development department through their 470 godowns, the chief minister said.

The scheme will also cover the state’s Green House and Central government’s Indira Awas Yojana, she said.
 


'' Amma Salt ''


Chief minister Jayalalithaa, addressed as "Amma" (mother) by her supporters, had launched Amma double fortified salt, low sodium salt and refined free flow iodized salt on June 11 ,2014, priced at Rs 25, Rs 21 and Rs 14. 
 


''Amma Kudineer''

Amma Kudineer (meaning Mother drinking-water  in Tamil)is a mineral water production and distribution project run by the Government of the state of Tamil Nadu in India

The project was formally launched on September 15, 2013, on the 105th birth anniversary of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C N Annadurai

The project involves production and packaging of mineral water in one litre plastic bottles, and selling them in long-distance running state-owned buses and in bus stations. 

The price has been fixed at Rs10 per bottle. 

The project is intended to make purified water available to people of all strata, at a reasonable cost
