Over 14 million electorate are eligible to vote today in the second and final phase of Kerala's civic polls which is witnessing a keen contest between the UDF and the LDF.
The voting is spread across 7 of the 14 districts and decide the political fate of more than 40,000 candidates vying for 12,651 seats.
A total of 44,388 candidate are in the fray for 12,651 seats in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram where the polling is being held today
The seven districts are Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram.
The first phase of the voting on November 2 saw more than 8.4 million of the 10.1 million registered voters exercising their franchise.
Counting of votes will take place on Saturday Nov 07,2015
The polls will also test the BJP's efforts to break the bipolar polity in the state, led by Congress-led UDF and CPI(M)-led LDF, by corning the support of Ezhava outfit Sree
Narayana Dharma Paripalana Yogam (SNDP).
While Chief Minister Oommen chandy is confident of good performance in the civic polls and has maintained that the outcome will be a referendum of the four-and-a-half-year rule of his government, the opposition is hoping that various corruption charges that had hit the ruling front would give them an edge.
