The award,
announced by the Bali-based Sukarno Centre in Indonesia, was given
because the 'tyranical' leader was judged by the centre to be a champion
of the struggle against neo-colonialism, the practice of using
capitalism to influence other nations.
The award
was announced by Rachmawati Soekarnoputri, the daughter of Indonesia's
founding president, after she met with Pyongyang's ambassador to
Jakarta, Ri Jong Ryul.
'We
will give the award to President' - he is actually not the President -
'Kim Jong-un because he has been consistent in carrying out the ideals
of the great leader, Kim Il-sung, which is to fight imperialism,' Ms
Rachmawati said.
Kim Jong-un will receive the award in September 2015 for his 'peace, justice and humanity'
Note
In the past,
the 'Sukarno Prize' has been presented to Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung
San Suu Kyi of Burma and India's Mahatma Gandhi.
A storm of outrage and disbelief has erupted in Indonesia were stunned at learning this year's prize went to a
leader who has drawn attention for all the wrong reasons - including
unleashing a barrage of threats against South Korea and the United
States
