Russian Federal Space Agency

The Russian Federal Space Agency, commonly called Roscosmos, is the government agency responsible for the Russian Space Science Program and General Aerospace Research

It was previously the Russian Aviation and Space Agency, commonly known as "Rosaviakosmos"

The headquarters of Roscosmos are located in Moscow while the Main Mission Control space flight operations center is located in the nearby city of Korolev

 The Cosmonauts Training Centre(GCTC)is in Star City.

The Launch facilities used are Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhsan (with most launches taking place there, both manned and unmanned) and Plesetsk Cosmodrome  in northern Russia which is used primarily for unmanned, military flights.

Vostok 1was the first spaceflight of the Vostok Programme and the First Human Spaceflight in history.
TheVostok 3KA Space Capsule was launched on April 12, 1961 from Baikonur Cosmodrome with Soviet Cosmonaut Yuri GAgarin, making him the first human to cross into Outer Space

Soyuz is a series of  Spacecraft designed for the Soviet Space Programme by the Korolyov Design Bureau (now RKK Energia) in the 1960s that remains in service today.
The Soyuz spacecraft is launched on a Soyuz Rocket, the most frequently used and most reliablelaunch vehicle in the world to date
The first Soyuz flight was unmanned and started on November 28, 1966.
The first mission with a crew, Soyuz 1, launched on 23 April 1967 but ended with a crash due to a parachute failure, killing Cosmonaut Vladimir Komarov
