2015 Bangladesh Vs India Only Test Match @ Fatullah, Jun 10-14, 2015

Bangladesh made their Test debut against India in 2000at Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka. India won by 9 wickets, but surprisingly the two have crossed swords in just 4 Test series, all of which have been played in and around Dhaka.

2000 - India won 1-0(1 Test Series)
2004 - India won 2-0(2-Test Series)
2007 - India won 1-0(2-Test Series)
2010 - India won 2-0(2-Test Series)

India have never hosted Bangladesh for Tests

The two teams were last involved in a Test series  in 2010, when India swept it 2-0 with comfortable margins of 10 wickets and 113 runs.
Since then, Bangladesh have beaten only Zimbabwe, another Test strugglers, in four Tests - once in Harare (2013) and thrice at home

In the period between 2010 and the one-off Test against India starting June 10, Bangladesh have played 27 Tests, won 4 (all vs Zimbabwe), lost 17, and drawn 6

Bangladesh's only claim to fame in their 90-Test history (won 7, lost 71, drawn 12) since 2000 has been a series win in West Indies (2009) where they beat the once-invincible Caribbean team 2-0.

India-Bangladesh Test Series Statistics
- Only four Test series, all played in Bangladesh
- Only seven Tests in all; India won 6, Bangladesh 0, Drawn 1
- India's Lowest winning margin by runs is 83 (Dec 2014)
- India's lowest winning margin by wickets is 9 wickets (Nov 2000)
- Highest winning margin for India by runs is 239 (May 2007)
- Highest winning margin for India by wickets is 10 (Jan 2010)
  • Sachin Tendulkarholds the record between the sides for most hundreds - 5 in 9 innings (Highest 248 not out). He is also the highest run getter with 820. The next best is Rahul Dravid with 560 runs (3 tons) in 10 innings
  • Zaheer Khan is the highest wicket-taker with 31 in 14 innings. Next best is Irfan Pathan with 18 victims in 4 innings

The stats hugely favour India but this Bangladesh side is a touch different than the previous ones. They showed their prowess in the Asia Cup, reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup and then they took the mickey out of Pakistan in the One Day Internationals and the T20Is.

This Test Match @ Fatullah is Virat Kohli's first assignment as the official Indian Test skipper. So far he has played 33 Tests and none against Bangladesh

In the current squad, only Murali Vijay, Harbhajan Singh and Ishant Sharma have previously played a Test against Bangladesh
Harbhajan is the most capped player among the sides with 101 Tests. He was recalled to the team after 2 years. He has not played a Test since March 2013

It's getting really dark in Fatullah. There was a prediction for rain but this is heavier than anyone would have liked.
