MI's Past Performances in IPL
With seven wins and an equal number of defeats, Mumbai finished fifth on the points table, missing out on a semi-final spot by just one point in the inaugural season
In 2009, another average performance saw MI winning only five of their 14 matches and finishing seventh on the leaderboard.
In 2010, Mumbai turned it around to reach the final but fell at the last hurdle, losing the summit clash to Chennai Super Kings by 22 runs.
In 2011, Mumbai's run in the fourth edition ended in the second qualifier, where they lost to Royal Challengers Bangalore by 43 runs.
In 2012, Mumbai managed to qualify for the eliminator after winning 10 of their 16 league games but were knocked out by CSK, who won by 38 runs.
In 2013 MI beat Chennai Super Kings in the final by 23 runs to win their maiden IPL trophy.

Owned by Vijay Mallya, the squad is coached by former New Zealand spinner Daniel Vettori following his retirement after the conclusion of the World Cup. The Indian team's bowling coach Bharat Arun has also been roped in as the team's assistant coach.
