 Glenn Maxwell's explosive hitting fetched him a 51-ball century and propelled Australia to 376/9 in 50 Overs

Glenn Maxwell scored the second-fastest century in World Cup history as Australia secured their place in the quarter-finals with an exciting 64-run win over Sri Lanka.

Glenn Maxwell brought up his maiden one-day international hundred off 51 balls, one more than Kevin O'Brien took during Ireland's famous win over England four years ago in the 2011 WC

Sri Lanka gave Australia a real scare as Kumar Sangakkara scoring a third successive hundred, buttressed by Tillakaratne Dilshan's 62 and Dinesh Chandimal's dazzling 22-ball half-century, Sri Lanka were in the game till the last ten overs but eventually fell 64 short, as Australia ensured they would finish second in Pool A and entertain either Pakistan or Ireland in the Adelaide quarterfinal.
