Barcelona and Argentina counterpart Lionel Messi - who won four years in a row until Ronaldo beat him last year, was second on 15.76%.
Bayern Munich and Germany keeper Manuel Neuer, was third on 15.72%.
This year's award is Cristiano Ronaldo's third and the other two in 2008 and 2013
Lionel Messi won the award in the years 2009-12
The Ballon d'Or is awarded based on the votes of national team coaches and captains and a select group of football journalists
The three Ballon d'Or candidates are asked which players from
the past they would most like to play alongside and the answers are -
Messi
There are so many great players from the past, so to mention a name is very difficult. I would loved to have played with many players from the past.
Neuer
I like playing with successful teams and of course you have your idols from the past. It would have of course be wonderful to be able to play with those players from the past but it would be wrong to single out one players.
Ronaldo
It would be nice to have the three of us together on the same team - that would be a good thing. I think I would like to have the two on stage now in my team.
