Sachin Tendulkar came up with the vision to build a school, have clean toilets, access to clean drinking water and beautification of a lake in the village.
Prime MinisterNarendra Modi's 'adopt-a-village' scheme called the Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) makes it mandatory for every member of the Parliament to adopt three villages and ensure their physical and infrastructural development by 2019
Sachin Tendulkar took an oath along with other people to ensure that they would work for the development of the village.
Sachin Tendulkar, who adopted this village yesterday, also promised to light up as many houses as possible by providing electricity.
"There are various things that we are looking to do. One is to build a school, have clean toilets, have access to clean drinking water and beautifying a lake here," said Tendulkar.
Tendulkar had earlier said that his second innings in life is about satisfaction, working for the betterment of the people and the country.
"I have played for India and I am an Indian. So, whatever I do in
India is giving me a lot of satisfaction and it's my way of saying thank you to all of you for the years of supporting me," he added.
He also said that they would build a community centre so that families can spend more time with each other. He passed a social message by urging the villagers to quit smoking and drinking and instead become addicted to spending time with their families.
The 'Little Master' added that girls and boys should be treated equally as they are the future of the country.
The 'adopt-a-village' scheme was launched on October 11, barely a month after Prime Minister Modi' famous 'Make in India' initiative, aimed to make the country a manufacturing hub to generate employment opportunities.
