Saina Nehwal, Kidambi Srikanth Win China Open Titles
World No.5 Saina Nehwal (India)defeated Japan's Akane Yamaguchi 21-12, 22-20 in 42 minutes to bag her third women's singles crown of the year 2014 - had also won the India Grand Prix Gold in January and the Australian Open Super Series in June.
"I was surprised to see the scores by which Akane beat Sun Yu and Bae Yeon Jun. I was not expecting to beat three Chinese in a row. I will remember this title for the rest of my life," said Saina, who was seeded sixth in the $700,000 event.
Kidambi Srikanth recorded a rare feat by an Indian when he beat home favourite and two-time Olympic champion Lin Dan (21-19, 21-17) to win the China Open Super Series tournament on Sunday Nov 16,2014
Srikanth, who won the Thailand Open Grand Prix Gold last year, had finished runners-up at the 2014 India Open Grand Prix Gold event in Lucknow and was a quarter-finalist in this year's Malaysian Open
