 Game One
Viswanathan Anand played out a fighting draw with defending champion Magnus Carlsen of Norway in the first game of the World Chess championship on Saturday Nov 08,2014

The game was drawn in 48 moves when Carlsen could not avoid perpetual checks.


The World Chess Championship 2014 will be a match between the current world champion, Magnus Carlsen, and challenger Viswanathan Anand, to determine the 2014 World Chess Champion. It will be held from 7 November to 25 November 2014, under the auspices of the World Chess Federation (FIDE) in Sochi, Russia

The World Chess Championship Match 2014 will consist of 12 games and if necessary, tie-break games.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich will be the Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the FIDE World Championship Match Carlsen-Anand in Sochi.

Both Carlsen and Anand appeared in the 2013 Championship, that time with Anand as the reigning world champion and Carlsen as the challenger.

 This will mark the first time that the same two opponents have met in consecutive World Championship matches since Garry Kasparov and Anatoly Karpov (1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, and 1990).
Viswananthan Anand is only the second former champion (after Karpov in 1987 and 1990) to win a Candidates tournament.
 Viswananthan Anand(44)is the second oldest person to win a Candidates tournament, behind Viktor Korchnoi in 1977 and 1981

Game Two
Defending champion Magnus Carlsen of Norway drew the first blood by defeating challenger Viswanathan Anand in the second game of the World Chess Championship here on Sunday Nov 09,2014

With his first victory as early as in the second tie of the 12-game match, Carlsen now leads the series by 1.5-0.5

Game Three

Viswanathan Anand scored a crushing victory over defending champion Magnus Carlsen in the third game and it was all over in 34 moves.
Having lost the second game of the match, Anand was almost in a must-win situation and the Indian ace came up with his best effort against Carlsen in recent years.
Equalising the score on 1.5-1.5 after the third of the 12-game match, Anand also ended a four year drought by beating Carlsen in Classical chess game as the last victory by five times world champion over the Norwegian had come way back in 2010 under this format

Game Four
World chess champion Magnus Carlsen and title challenger India's Viswanathan Anand Wednesday Nov 12,2014 decided to split points after 47 moves in their fourth game of the title match held in Russia.
At the end of the fourth game, both players have two points each in the 12-game match.
