New Capital of Andhra Pradesh Announced in the State Assembly
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday Sep 04,2014 announced Vijaywada-Guntur area as the capital of Andhra Pradesh.
The announcement was made in the state Assembly.
The Sivaramakrishnan Committee which was appointed by the UPA government opposed the Vijayawada-Guntur stretch as the capital region stating that it could cause ecological problems.
However, the Naidu government sees the region as geographically central and also an area that can attract investors.
