2014 ICC T20 World Cup West Indies Vs Pakistan Tuesday April 01,2014



Defending champions West Indies entered into the SF's by defeating 2009 ICC T20 World Cup Champions Pakistan by 84 Runs at the Sher-E-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka April 1, 2014


Chasing 167 Runs Pakistan collapsed like a house of cards and was bundled out for just 82.The Pakistan team could never recover from the early setback and were reduced to 13 for four and then 75 for eight in the 16th over. 

After electing to bat, West Indies were reduced to 67/4 in the 12th over but Pakistan could not capitalize on the opportunity. 

Lendl Simmons (31) and Marlon Samuels (20) somewhat arrested the slide with a 39-run stand before falling in quick succession.

Dwayne Bravo (46) and Darren Sammy (42 not out) were the stars with the bat for the West Indies as they took Pakistani bowlers to the cleaners towards the end of the innings

The 71-run 6th-wicket stand between Dwayne Bravo and Darren Sammy turned out to be decisive as the Pakistani bowlers and fielders ran out of ideas. 
Dwayne Bravo and Darren Sammy joined hands to smash 24 off Saeed Ajmal in the 19th over, smashing three sixes and a boundary.
In the previous over, speedster Umar Gul was at the receiving end, conceding 21 to Bravo, who hit two sixes and a four.
 In the last 5 overs, the West Indians piled up 82 runs. 

Leg-spinner Samuel Badree (3-10)and off-spinner Sunil Narine (3-16)were the architects of the Pakistani collapse, picking 3 wickets each, while pacers Krishmar Santokie and Andre Russell bagged two apiece.



West Indies now is just two matches away from defending the title they won in Sri Lanka in 2012.

West Indies will now play Sri Lanka in the SF 1 on Thursday April 03,2014 andIndia will take on South Africa on Friday April 04,2014 in the SF 2
