The MCG has reported a world-record attendance for a day of Test
cricket, with 91,092 spectators officially accounted for during the
final session on Boxing Day.
At 4.15pm the scoreboard at the ground relayed the message that a new
world record had been set, surpassing the 90,800 who attended the second
day of the 1960-61 Test against West Indies at the MCGMCG record cricket attendances
Kevin Pietersen overtook Geoffrey Boycott's aggregate of 8,114 runs to become England's fourth highest Test runscorer, behind Graham Gooch, Alec Stewart and David Gower
Ian Bell passed 1,000 Test runs in a calendar year for the first time
Shane Watson(Australia)left the field with soreness in his right groin during the second session on Boxing Day. Watson was running in to bowl the fifth ball of his seventh over when he pulled up and grimaced, and after consulting the captain Michael Clarke, Watson immediately left the field.

England captain Alastair Cook(DOB Dec 25,1984) became the youngest cricketer to reach 8,000 Test runs
The 29-year-old Alastair Cook beat Sachin Tendulkar to the milestone by 21 days and appeared in fine touch as he reached the break on 41, with fellow opener Michael Carberry grafting for 5 runs and moved serenely to 54 without loss at lunch after dismissing Australia for 204 early on the third day of the fourth Ashes Test on Saturday Dec 28,2013
Alastair Cook reached the landmark in 7 years and 300 days
In his 29th Test Match Nathan Lyon (Australia)claimed 5/50 - including his 100th Test wicket -Stuart Broad and his first five-wicket haul in Australia,as England collapsed again
No Australia offspinner has reached that milestone in the past 30 years. Only Hugh Trumble, George Giffen, Ashley Mallett, Bruce Yardley and Ian Johnson had ever done it.
Nathan Lyon joins Peter Siddle as Australia's leading wicket-taker for the year. Siddle's 42 victims took 14 Tests to accumulate, Lyon claimed his in only 11.
Brad Haddin's 65 Runs gave him the highest aggregate by a wicketkeeper in any Ashes series

Matthew Hayden, who completed 8000 Test runs in 164 innings, is the fastest Australia batsman to 8000 Test runs, followed by Ricky Ponting, who took 165 innings
