More than 1,000 foreign observers are expected to monitor the polls, primarily from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), various offices of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), and the post-Soviet Commonwealth of Independent States Election Observation Mission
The Central Election Commission should announce whether any candidate has won within ten days of polling

President Ilham Aliyev had the constitution changed in 2009 to let him stand for a third term, and has the entire resources of the state behind him.In June 2013 the New Azerbaijan Party nominated incumbent President Ilham Aliyev as their official presidential candidate
Jamil Hasanli of the National Council of Democrat Forces, which unites the two major Musavat and People's Front parties along with several other smaller groups. Both Musavat and the People's Front boycotted the 2008 presidential election.
A day before the election, main opposition candidate Jamil Hasanli stated that he is "running in this election with the paramount aim of ending 20 years of the Aliyev dynasty's misrule of my country, and restoring Azerbaijani democracy."
Other candidates include five MPs and two low-profile opposition figures

Ilham Aliyev Wins Presidential Election
The incumbent Ilham Aliyev claimed victory in presidential polls,thanking the Azeri people for electing him to a third term.
With about three-quarters of the votes counted Mr Aliyev had won nearly 85%, the national election commission said.
With 75% of the votes counted, the share for the main opposition candidate, Jamil Hasanli, stood at just 5.2%, the election commission said.
