Presidential and parliamentary elections will be held in Ecuador on 17 February and 7 April 2013, the latter being used for a run-off if necessary.
Voters will choose the president and vice president of the Republic, as well as national and provincial assembly members, mayors, prefects and other sectional officials.
11 National political organizations were authorized by the CNE to participate in the general elections on February 17, 2012 .The organizations authorized were CREO, Partido Renovador Institucional Acción Nacional (Prian), Avanza, Alianza PAIS, Movimiento Popular Democrático (MPD), Sociedad Patriótica, Ruptura, Partido Socialcristiano, Pachakutik, Roldosista Ecuatoriano (PRE) Socialista Frente Amplio The movement (Sociedad Unida Mas Accion) SUMA was accepted by the Electoral Contentious Court (TCE for its Spanish acronym), thus allowing the movement to participate in elections of February 2013

4)Alberto Acosta, candidate of the Coordinating Committee of the Left
5)Norman Wray, of the Ruptura 25 movement
6)Nelson Zavala, of the Roldosist Party
7) Mauricio Rodas, of the SUMA movement and
8)Álvaro Noboa, of PRIA
Rafael Correa Re-elected for 3rd Term as President of Ecuador
Rafael Correa who first took office in 2007 and was re-elected in 2009, won 58% of the vote, well ahead of his closest challenger, former banker Guillermo Lasso, who got 24% votes
After 6 years in office, Rafael Correa has won an unprecedented third term.
That is no mean feat in a country that went through 7 presidents in the 10 years before Rafael Correa was elected
