Silambarasan Rajendar சிலம்பரசன் ராஜேந்தர்

Silambarasan Rajendar சிலம்பரசன் ராஜேந்தர்(DOB February 3, 1985)also known as T. R. Silambarasan, or Simbu started his career as a child artiste in 1987 and acted in nearly 19 of his father's films.
His first lead role was in Kadhal Azhivathillai  (2002) directed by his father T Rajendar.


His first breakthrough and achieved recogniton was for Manmadhan (2004)for which he had written story, screenplay and dialogues and "ghost-directed" directed by Simbu which became his first major commercial success.The film featured him in dual roles for the first time.The film became a high commercial success at the box-office, completing a 275-days-theatrical run, while also earning rave reviews.The film has starcast of  Jyothika,sindu Tholani.atul Kulkarni,Gounda Mani and Manthira Bedi and Yana Gupta in special appearances.
 

Simbu made his full-flegded directorial debut with Vallavan (2006) playing the lead in the film and acting opposite Nayantara,Reema Sen and Sandhya. In spite of time tough competition at the box office, Vallavan did decent business at the box office.

 

Gautham Menon's Vinnaithandi Varuvaayaa (2010)  - Simbu's 25th film.Silambarasan received critical acclaim for his performance as Karthik, resulting in several awards and nominations. The film proved to be a significant turning point in his career, changing his media image. The film fetched positive reviews and became his biggest success in his career.

 


Vaanam (2011)remake of the critically acclaimed Telugu film Vedam (2010).The film received positive reviews and crossed 100-day mark and made good revenues in the centers released.Vaanam should be another significant film in STR's career.

 

Osthe(2011) directed by S Dharani  released in more than 110 screens overseas in December 2011,in which Silambarasan played a police officer for the first time in his carreer. Osthe was the biggest ever overseas release in Silambarasan's career, with the actor naming it the "biggest action film that he has done so far".


                                                    




Simbu as a Playback Singer in films
Simbu's first sung playback in Sonnal thaan Kaadhala  and has since sung over 40 songs for various composers. He predominantly sings in his own films and has collaborated mostly with his friend and fellow composer Yuvan Shankar Raja . Silambarasan has also penned lyrics for several songs from his films.
