Stats and Trivia
  • India have only lost one home Tess series in the last 11 years, to England in 2012. Between November 2004 and November 2015, they played 17 series at home, winning 12 and drawing five. They have not had any home Tests for the last two years.
  • South Africa's unbeaten nine-year streak on the road has included 13 series in all 10 Test countries other than their own where Test cricket is hosted, including Pakistan. Of those, there are only two places where South Africa have not won, but drawn series: India and the UAE, both twice.
India face South Africa in the third and penultimate Test in Nagpur from November 25,2015

In the first Test @ Mohali India secured 108-run victory and a 1-0 lead with more than two days to spare.
In the Second Test @ Benglauru India dismissed the South Africans for 214 on the opening day of the second Test that, however, is best remembered for four days of washout that followed

Both in Mohali and Bangalore,Ravichandran Ashwin, the leader of the country's spin attack, was well supported by Jadeja. The spin twins worked in tandem to torment the visitors and further exposed their already known limitations of handling spin.

Ravichandran Ashwin, who has pocketed 12 wickets in the series so far, has been one of India's best match-winners at home in recent times. Ever since he made his debut in 2011, the offie has made an impact in every home series.
In the 30 Tests he has played yet in his career, Ashwin has so far won three Man-of-the-Match awards and four Man of the Series: West Indies in India (2011/12) - 22 wickets, New Zealand in India (2012) - 18 wickets, Border Gavaskar Trophy (2013) - 29 wickets, India in Sri Lanka (2015) - 21 wickets

India thrash South Africa by 337 runs in Delhi Test, win series 3-0

Virat Kohli won his fourth consecutive toss in the series, India v South Africa, 4th Test, 1st day, Delhi, December 3, 2015

By winning all the four tosses in the series, Virat became the second Indian captain to win all the tosses in a series of four or more Tests. Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi had won all the five tosses vs England in 1963-64.

South Africans played excruciatingly slow to take the match to a draw and Hashim Amla (25 runs off 244 balls) and AB de Villiers (43 off 297 balls) led Proteas’ resistance for a considerable time, but their bid failed as India changed the face of the match post tea, taking five wickets in 5.1 overs

AB de Villiers who has fastest 50, 100 and 150 runs in ODIs to his name, De Villiers curbed his aggression and played an innings which kept his team’s hope of a draw alive till tea on Day 5, despite they being at the receiving end till the last moment.

At tea, South Africa were 136 for 5 in 138 overs with De Villiers batting at 43 off 296 and Dane Vilas at 13 off 45.A boring affair till tea suddenly became lively when Dane Vilas and De Villiers were sent to pavilion within seven deliveries into the third session, and it ensued a collapse which forced South Africa to lose
