FIFA gets seven candidates for soccer body presidency
FIFA on Wednesday Oct 28,2015 named the seven confirmed candidates vying for the FIFA presidency at a Feb. 26 election.
In
a statement, Zurich-based FIFA said the candidates proposed were:
Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, Musa Hassan Bility, Jerome Champagne, Gianni
Infantino, Michel Platini, Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa and
Tokyo Sexwale.
UEFA chief Platini was suspended this
month for 90 days. FIFA said that his candidacy would not be processed
by its electoral committee as long as the ban was in force.
Among the seven registered candidates, Michel Platini's is in doubt. The head of European soccer's governing body, UEFA, he is also currently suspended for 90 days, along with Blatter.
Those remaining are: Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein of Jordan and Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa of Bahrein; Frenchmen Platini and Jerome Champagne; and the Swiss Gianni Infantino, Liberian Musa Bility and South Africa's Tokyo Sexwale.
