The 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup is the 7th FIFA Women's World Cup, the quadrennial International Women's Football World Championship Tournament.

Defending Champion

Japan won the final of the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup held in Germany against the USA on a Penalty Shoot-out following a 2–2 draw after extra-time and became the first Asian Team to win a FIFA World Cup

Mascot
On 17 June 2014, the mascot of the tournament, Shuéme, a Female Great White Owl  was unveiled at the Canadian Museum of Nature in Ottawa


The tournament began on 6 June 2015 and will finish on 5 July.

The 2015 tournament is using Goal-line Technology for the first time with the Hawk-Eye System.

It is also the first Women's World Cup to be played on Artificial Turf

 In March 2011, Canada won the right to host the event, the first time the country will host the tournament and the third time it has been in North America.


The 2015 tournament saw the World Cup expanded to 24 teams from 16 in  2011.With the expanded tournament, eight teams made their Women's World Cup debut at the 2015 tournament

For this tournament, the number of teams was expanded from 16 to 24, with the number of matches increasing from 32 to 52

Squads
Each team's squad for the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup will consist of 23 players (three of whom must be goalkeepers), two more than the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup

Venues
The cities of Vancouver,Edmonton,Winnipeg,Ottawa,Montreal and Moncton have been selected to host tournament matches


Canada received direct entry as hosts, and a Qualification Tournament of 134 teams was held for the remaining 23 places.

Draw
The draw was held on 6 December 2014   in Ottawa,Canada and other than two groups which have to contain two European teams, no group can contain more than one team from any confederation.
