Tremors were felt across India on May 21,2014 Wednesday night following an
earthquake measuring 6 on the Richter scale, 275 km southeast of the
Paradip coast of Odisha in the Bay of Bengal.
The Indian Tsunami Early
Warning System did not issue an alert for the earthquake that struck at
9.51 p.m. local time. According to initial reports from the India
Meteorological Department’s website, the quake happened at a depth of 10
km in the sea and lasted around 30 seconds.
Odisha, Andhra Pradesh,
Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh felt the quake.
Mild tremors were felt in Uttar Pradesh and the National Capital Region.
