Sheila Dikshit Appointed Governor of Kerala Tuesday March 04,2014

Sheila Dikshit, the former three-term Chief Minister of Delhi, was yesterday night Tuesday March 04,2014 appointed Governor of Kerala within three months of her defeat in the Dec 2013 Delhi Assembly Election where Congress managed to secure only 8 seats out of 70 seats in the Delhi Assembly

A Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesperson said that 75-year-old Dikshit succeeds Nikhil Kumar, a former Delhi Police Commissioner, who resigned yesterday Tuesday March 04,2014

About Sheila Dikshit

• Sheila Dikshit served as Chief Minister from 1998 to 2013 in Delhi
• Sheila Dikshit had also represented Kannauj Parliamentary Constituency of Uttar Pradesh during the period between 1984 and 1989

• In the Dec 2013 Delhi Assembly Election,Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal defeated Mrs Dikshit from the New Delhi seat by a margin of 22000 votes
