Deadly knife attack in China's Kunming Railway Station Saturday March 01,2014

Chinese officials have blamed separatists from the north-western Xinjiang region for a mass knife attack at Kunming Railway Station in Yunnan Province on Saturday March 01,2014 that left 29 people dead and at least 130 wounded.

A group of attackers, dressed in black, burst into the station in the south-west city of Kunming and began stabbing people at random.

Images from the scene posted online showed bodies lying in pools of blood.

State news agency Xinhua said police shot at least four suspects dead.

The Kunming city government said the attack was orchestrated by separatists from the northwest region of Xinjiang, a vast and distant area home to the mostly-Muslim Uighur minority

State broadcaster CCTV said on Sunday March 02,2014 that three of the four alleged attackers killed by police were male, and one female. Another female assailant was captured by police, it said. Some eyewitness accounts on social media say there were more than a dozen attackers
