The Delhi Police has issued prohibitory orders against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's proposed protest outside Home Ministry on Monday Jan 20,2014

Delhi Police has also imposed prohibitory orders in and around Parliament House and the North and South Block in order to stop Kejriwal from holding protests. The AAP has been asked not to hold protests near these buildings as Republic Day preparations are underway. Parliament street sub-division, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Operations) Anyesh Roy issued the order which will be applicable for three days starting from January 19th till 22nd.

Four Metro stations near North Block - Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, Udyog Bhawan and Race Course - will remain closed from 9 am to 1 pm to ensure the public does not join the protest


The Aam Aadmi Party has made it clear that it will go ahead with its decision to hold a dharna outside Union Home Ministry on Monday Jan 20,2014 to protest against Delhi Police failure to check the crime graph in New Delhi.

Presently the Delhi Police is accountable to the Union Home Ministry. 


AAP spokesman Sanjay Singh said that AAP-led Delhi government was concerned about the safety of Delhi residents and stressed upon his party's demand that Delhi Police be brought under the state government. 

AAP Spokesman Sanjay Singhbacked Delhi Law Minister Somnath Bharti and Women and Child Minister Rakhi Birla, who were at loggerheads with the Delhi Police over law and order situation in Delhi. The demand for Delhi Police control was reiterated after Bharti had a public spat with an SHO over an alleged drug and prostitution racket in a South Delhi locality, while Birla had accused police of not taking action against in-laws of a woman who was assaulted in Sagarpur area.

Extra security forces have been moved to the North block. Sources say Kejriwal is likely to be detained under Section 65 of the Delhi Police Act. Prohibitory orders have been issued in Central Delhi and four metro stations have been shut on Monday morning because of Kejriwal's dharna plan.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal slept on the road next to his car on a quilt that doubled up as a mattress. His unofficial security cordon spent the night keeping the media from getting too close to him to take pictures and footage.

After spending the night sleeping on a road in the heart  Delhi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal woke up to rain and chilly winds this morning Tuesday Jan 21,2014 but vowed to escalate his sit-in protest against a police force that he describes as "compromised."

Delhi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, warned, "I said 10 days, but it was a way of saying that the protest is indefinite. If the central government does not agree to our demands by January 26, then we will fill Rajpath (the central boulevard in the heart of central Delhi) with lakhs of people."

Delhi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Aam Aadmi Party want the control of the Delhi police to be transferred from the union home ministry to the Delhi government, a demand made by earlier chief ministers as well. He is also insistent that five policemen must be suspended immediately for failing to make arrests based on the orders of his minister

Delhi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal told reporters, making it clear that he will not re-locate his protest to Jantar Mantar, the designated spot for public protests in Delhi.



Delhi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's dharna in the heart of the capital came to an abrupt end on Tuesday night after two police officers were sent on leave under a neat compromise with the Centre over his demand for suspension of five officials for alleged dereliction of duty.

Dharna Called-Off Tuesday Jan 21,2014


Delhi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced that he was calling off the protest following the "victory" achieved by the people of Delhi.

 Under the compromise, the SHO of Malviya Nagar, who refused to raid an alleged drug and prostitution ring on the orders of Law Minister Somnath Bharti, and PCR van in-charge of Paharganj, where a Danish woman was gang-raped last week, were sent on leave, paving the way for an end to the confrontation with the Centre.

The over 30-hour protest outside Rail Bhavan in the Raisina Hill area that virtually morphed into a demand for control over Delhi Police and threatened to disrupt the Republic Day celebrations on Sunday ended following an assurance from the Lt Governor Najeeb Jung.


Delhi Police file FIR against AAP protestors for dharna 

Delhi Police have registered an FIR against unknown persons in connection with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's dharna outside Rail Bhavan in Delhi that witnessed many violent scuffles in the high-security area where prohibitory orders were in place

The case was registered at Parliament Street Police Station last night under section 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of duty) and section 333(voluntarily causing grievous hurt to deter public servant from duty) of IPC

The cases registered in connection with the agitation on January 20th and 21st in the area of Parliament Street Police Station will be investigated on merit," a statement released by Delhi Police said.

The two-day dharna by Kejriwal witnessed several altercations between police and AAP workers and at least 31 people, including policemen and media personnel, were injured
