Solve Civic Problems Through SMS Saturday Oct 5,2013

An SMS complaint cell has been opened at Thanjavur Municipal Office to receive petitions from people and dispose them of quickly.


Inaugurating the cell on Saturday Oct 5,2013 R.Vaithilingam, Housing and Urban Development Minister, said such a facility is the first in Tamil Nadu.

People within the municipal limits can send in their complaints through SMS round the clock to 94896 94890

Complaints such as defects in streetlights, underground drainage problems, irregularity in drinking water supply, accumulation of garbage, and removal of encroachment could be sent. 

On receiving complaints, an acknowledgement number will be sent to the petitioner through SMS. 

Information will be given to people through SMS after disposal of their petitions.

People can know about the action taken on their complaints by visiting the website www.municipality.tn.gov.in/ thanjavur/. 

If a petition is not disposed of within the stipulated time, people can approach the officers concerned on phone, tell the SMS acknowledgement number, and get their problems solved.
